Page 1 of 3 The Taylor project is nestled in the hills of Northern Baltimore County, overlooking the vineyards of the acclaimed Basignani Winery. The house, a mid seventies contemporary, was in desperate need of renovation. With two children already and one more on the way, the Taylors needed more space.
The house itself had some nice features, other than the location, it boasted a huge great room with post and beam construction and huge windows at one end. This area was the primary gathering place for the family so retention and expansion of this area was important.
After focusing ideas and dissecting needs and wants, a plan was generated. A two story addition with full basement would be added to accommodate familial growth and storage needs. The addition would be decidedly modernist and simple. Yet, the two story shed roof add-on would make a dramatic statement next to the low swept roof lines of the existing dwelling. Ample windows were added to make the most of the view and the natural light.
The project turned out beautifully, and the family reports near perfect synergy with their new surrounds. Visit our Gallery for some pictures of the project.
